BECKY AND KAREN WERE TWINS. They were only fifteen and had no idea why their parents had named them Becky and Karen. But none of that mattered now. What mattered was that they were in a car filled with meat and cruising to a party in the nice part of town.
Karen was scrolling through her phone, looking at pictures of the party they were going to.
Becky was driving, poorly, mostly on the sidewalk and the opposite side of the road.
âDid you see what Justin was wearing?â Karen said. âHe wears one on the front and the back of his head.â
âHeâs so cool. He almost fingered me at camp but he had poison oak all over his hands.â
âThatâs so hot.â
âTheyâre going to flip out when they see what we got.â
âWhat do we got?!â Karen called.
âA carful of meat!â
âWhat do we got?!â
âA carful of meat!â
âFuck yeah!â
Karen turned the radio up. The song, âBeautiful Piles of Meat,â was the song of the summer. It was so catchy and danceable that both of the girls began singing along to it.
âPull some of that meat up here,â Becky said.
Karen twisted around in her seat and began dragging up handfuls of meat.
âPut some right in my lap,â Becky said.
Karen obeyed, putting a cut of meat between Beckyâs legs, the blood smearing all over her ivory thighs.
âFuck yeah,â Becky said. âWill you rub some on my face?â
Karen laughed. âNot until I stuff my bra with some.â
She shoved some meat in her bra and then grabbed a cut and began rubbing it on Beckyâs face, all while dancing and singing to the music. Becky, too, was dancing along and driving even more recklessly.
âWe should put our masks on before we get there,â Becky said.
âShould have put âem on before we even left the house.â
Karen reached into the glove compartment and pulled out the two meat photo masks the girls had bought at the mall earlier. She fixed Beckyâs on first. This did not help her driving at all. Then she put on her own mask and felt immediately cooler and more stylish.
âWhoa!â Becky said. âI didnât think Iâd be able to see out of it but . . . I think everything looks better?â
âTotally,â Karen said.
Karen reached into the back seat to grab some more meat. When they got to the party, she wanted them to roll up in the car, open the doors, and have all that delicious meat slide out around them. Theyâd instantly be the most popular kids in class after that.
But she didnât grab meat. Or, it was meat, technically, but it was still attached to someone.
The figure sat up in the back seat.
âJeremy?â Karen said.
âWhat the fuck, Kare,â Becky said.
âMeat photo,â the guy in the back said.
âTotally,â Karen said.
âRight on,â Becky said.
âMeat photo,â the guy said.
âFuck yeah,â Karen said. âMeat photo. Isnât mine bad ass?â
âTotally,â Becky said.
âMeat photo,â the guy repeated.
Karen was looking forward to being the most popular girl at the party and was starting to find the new guy annoying. She
